Design Case Study - Cordless Vacuum
My Role: design execution, engineering integration, production ready CAD development & visualization
Stepping into the project at a critical mid-stage juncture, my role was to shepherd the design through its final mechanical build (P3) and secure design intent through to Tooling Release Approval (TRA). This required rebuilding the design from scratch in CAD to reconcile the original industrial design aesthetic with a tightening mechanical envelope, and successfully negotiating critical DFM constraints with engineering without compromising visual intent. Additionally, I spearheaded the complete redesign of the floor nozzle, packaging a highly complex, top-of-the-line mechanical system into our smallest and highest-performing footprint to deliver a cohesive, production-ready product.
P3 Design Refinement
Translation of ID intent into “tool-ready” DFM optimized design CAD
P3 Floor Nozzle Redesign
Redesign of the “Turbo Roll” floor nozzle & translation of ID intent into a “tool-ready” DFM optimized design
Approved TRA Design
Final Design to cut steel for tooling
